When you visit us for obstetric care, we‘ll keep you informed and comfortable. With our assistance, you can continue your pregnancy feeling confident that your baby is growing happily and healthily.
We start out every initial appointment by:
- Giving a pelvic exam
- Performing prenatal lab testing, including HIV testing
- Discussing prenatal vitamins and giving a prescription for one if necessary
- Addressing possible complications and signs of problems with a pregnancy
- Giving you an informational packet
You’ll have a follow-up appointment four weeks later, and at that visit, we’ll take a urine sample to ensure that your protein and sugar levels, your blood pressure, and your weight are all within a healthy range. If you have any questions or concerns, let us know. We’ll provide you with the answers you need to stay aware of and feel secure in your baby’s development.

Your doctor will give an overview of a normal pregnancy, discuss possible signs of problems, and answer any questions regarding your pregnancy and delivery. We perform prenatal laboratory testing (including an HIV test) during your first visit.
You will also receive an obstetrical information packet. Please read this carefully to address common concerns and questions. At the end of your first visit, you will be asked to return for a follow up appointment in about 4 weeks.
At each reoccurring prenatal visit, we’ll ask you to provide a urine sample so we can check sugar and protein levels. We’ll also regularly record your weight and blood pressure.
